Ten Days on the Island and Van Diemen’s Band present
A Voice and a Cornetto Entwined
This concert featuring two global baroque virtuosi is a rare and precious gem: quite literally, a breathtaking performance from a bygone age. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the cornetto was fabled for its astonishing ability to imitate the human voice. Czech soprano, Hana Blažíková is a rising star of the early music scene. She joins Bruce Dickey, the preeminent cornetto virtuoso of our epoch, in a thrilling instrumental-vocal pairing supported by Tasmania’s early music specialists, Van Diemen’s Band.
Imagine yourself in the Royal Courts of Renaissance Europe as this lush musical experience unfolds in two very different iconic settings – Hobart’s neo-Gothic St David’s Cathedral and the raw industrial atmosphere of Spring Bay Mill, Triabunna.
