Fragile Matter

Tasdance & Jukstapoz

In an international collaboration of body and soul, Tasmania’s own Tasdance and Greece’s innovative dance company Jukstapoz present an offbeat and striking cinematic-inspired work that will capture the curiosity of audiences and throw a contrasting shadow on the everyday.

Inspired by Charlie Chaplin’s epic film The Great Dictator, Fragile Matter uses dance, theatre, music, and puppetry to craft an original and dramatic performance
for our time.

Using the body as a metaphor for war and unity, eight embattled dancers rally, resist and break out with delicate grace. Deftly melding collectivity with the personal, Fragile Matter is a work that is both fiercely physical and intimate, with a potent sound score to match.

Storm and stress encounters fragility and lyricism in this inspiring and thrilling performance.
